For years I hustled with heart. I was burnt out, exhausted, and torn between my family and my business.
I remember being a new mom and so desperately wanting to be home with my babies. My husband and I tested living off just his income for 8 months before I actually gave birth so we could try to plan our finances. I had no idea what I'd do to make up the difference from my lost paycheck but we took the leap of faith and I became a full time mama.
I remember nannying for friends in the beginning and doing freelance work helping women launch their brick and mortar businesses. It was great for extra cash, but after we had our second baby, funds got tight and we needed increase and consistency.
How could we stop living paycheck to paycheck and create a steady stream of income from my personal skills and gifts? And could I really earn an income from home sharing the things I love? I had to find a way.
I was desperate - until I learned how to leverage
social media and take advantage of showcasing what
I was passionate about, online.
Over time, I built up 3 successful online brands-but I found myself missing out on truly cultivating life with my spouse and kids. I was taught I had to hustle hard to make it work. So I'd stay up late googling all the things just to try and learn the industry (which took forever!), and wake up sleep deprived, working in the cracks of time around being a wife and mama... convincing myself this sacrifice was "only temporary".
As a Christian Entrepreneur for now over 15 years, I know what the hustle and grind of business looks like. And I'm over it. I lived the late nights working and early mornings alongside homeschool and mom-duty, and I was more than willing to contribute as a help-mate for our home. But the enemy did what he does best - he distracted and discouraged me from my true purpose and kept me spinning on the never-ending hamster wheel. I wish I would have known then how freeing it could have be to partner with God and do things His way.
Being a work at home mom means you're pulled in a million different directions and there never seemed to be enough of me to go around. My kids turned into teens, and my conviction of not being a present mama quickly grew. I longed to enjoy more time with them and still be able to earn an income from my business, but I had been spinning my wheels so long, I didn't know what to do.
The business coaches taught me to work harder and constantly pivot in order to achieve success. But God's Word kept pulling me to lean into HIM. The world promised me its best, but God was calling me to something better.
As I partnered with Him with a heart of faith, strategy and intention, I could finally hear Him clearly as he taught me what to do. And the results have been life-changing!
